Figma is an efficient and flexible web design application that allows for collaboration in the creation of UI prototypes. Users get the capability of adding functionalities such as text manipulation, color changes, image adjustments, hovering, scrolling and animation to their interface assets.
Few days ago, Figma introduced an AI design tool, Make Design which was claimed to be in the same way as Apple. Figma has decided to retire its AI tool called Make Designs after it created application designs that resembled Apple’s iOS weather app.
CEO Dylan Field owned up for having insisted on deadlines for the team and stated that similarities to Apple designs were not intentional since it adopted third-party models and commissioned a design system.
He stated that the company will be pausing its ‘Make Design’ AI tool which was accused of mimicking the designs of Apple’s Weather application.
What is the Make Design feature
The Make Design feature is located inside Figma’s software and will create UI layouts and components based on written prompts. When this feature was launched, the company said simply that you just tell it what you require, and then the feature will give you the first draft.
The issue was discovered by Andy Allen, founder of Not Boring Software, creators of a suite of apps including the popular, skins-able Weather app and others. He learned that when Figma’s tool was used to provide design assistance, it continually produced a duplicate of Apple’s Weather app
