OPPO AI

In February of this year, OPPO unveiled the establishment of the OPPO AI Centre located in Shenzhen aimed to build a systematic AI infrastructure for processing image, vision, speech, natural language, and machine learning.

OPPO announced that it will include large language models (LLMs) from Google’s Gemini series in its flagship smartphones series to support the AI features including AI Toolbox AI Writer and AI Recording Summary. From OPPO’s perspective, the AI Writer will offer suggestions, including word or sentence completions and corrections for spelling, grammar, and vocabulary to enrich the content. Furthermore, this tool will have the functionality of language translation to help in creating content in different languages.

In the details regarding the AI Record Summary, OPPO stated this tool will automatically summarize meetings, transcripts, podcasts, and more and enable users to get the crux of a document without reading through it. This tool will also underline dates, names, and other special terms to avoid missing important information when going through them.

According to IDC in its recently released research report “Time to Democratise the Impact of AI Tech”, this market has a huge opportunity ahead. In the sub-US$1000 market, IDC predicts that shipments of AI phones will increase by 250% in 2024 to 35 million sets.

One of the main claims of OPPO is that user data will not be used for AI training in the future. They have also invested in other security measures such as third-party certifications, end-to-end encryption, and confidential computing. As OPPO is committed to providing AI phones to everyone, in its innovations and collaborations, OPPO welcomes the new generation of phones equipped with AI.

The company has also collaborated with Google, Microsoft, and MediaTek to fortify the AI environment for its smartphones. The company’s main product line will be Google Gemini family LLMs to introduce an AI Toolbox that consists of an AI Writer and AI Recording Summary. To this end, the company is using Microsoft Fast Transcription and Neural TTS technologies to provide a more natural and accurate voice and text conversion experience. Moreover, Oppo users will be able to create content, translate messages, and search for an address on their smartphone through a connected PC using Desktop Copilot.

According to the firm, it has been possible to design an intuitive user experience on the Azure AI Speech Service’s new fast transcription. Also, OPPO stated that its partnership with Microsoft would enable it to enhance the link to Windows PCs as well. According to OPPO, Microsoft Copilot will allow its smartphone users to create content, translate text messages, and search addresses on their smartphones through a PC.
