ChatGPT’s Video & Screen Sharing Feature was unveiled in Advanced Voice during the sixth day of the 12 Days of OpenAI’s live event. This great new functionality makes ChatGPT reachable for voice commands, images, and even videos, extending the opportunities to use it for creative purposes.
“We are currently rolling out video, screen share, and image upload capabilities in advanced voice in ChatGPT iOS and Android mobile apps. Video, screen share, and image upload capabilities will be available to all Team users and most Plus and Pro users, except for those in the European Union, Switzerland, Iceland, Norway, and Liechtenstein. We expect this rollout to be completed over the next week.“
To use it, however, you’ll need to have a ChatGPT Plus subscription or add-on, which currently costs $20 monthly, or the ChatGPT Pro add-on, which is $200 per month. Also, any subscribers to the ChatGPT team are eligible. It cannot be activated on your end, at least in the first few moments, even if you are willing to pay, as OpenAI has stated that it is gradually building the feature.
This service is for those who are ready to pay for a monthly subscription to have the best in AI technology. However, as an added feature, the team said that even though they will be allowed to chat for only five minutes in the free package, the ‘Chat with Santa’ icon would be made available to all users anyway in case they had reached a maximum time in the five minutes allowed.
What is the ChatGPT Video & Screen Sharing Feature?
The AI chatbot will now enable live, real-time voice and visual input from users to engage with the program. Specifically, ChatGPT Plus, Team, and Pro members will be able to lean on their phones and use tap-to-point or share the screen and get the AI responses in real time. The Advanced Voice Mode will now translate into a live video stream explaining, answering questions, and even making suggestions about what the picture shows after seven months of the demo.
Users will be able to activate the feature by touching the voice button of the application and then choosing the video button, which will turn on the live video mode. The screen-sharing mode can, of course, be set from the tab’s context menu and, thereby, let people interact with AI.
With this update, ChatGPT can listen to and reason about visuals in real time. The feature is embedded and functions through a new video icon in the mobile app; screen sharing is offered through a different button. The new updates coming to all ChatGPT Plus, Pro, and Team users are the first and can be expected by Enterprise and Edu users starting in January 2025.
However, the greater problem in Europe, which will also be unable to use the Advanced Voice Mode with vision, is that there is no clear time when this will happen. At present, Advanced Voice with Vision is restricted to ChatGPT Plus and ChatGPT Pro users only.
