OpenAI Sora Video AI Model Leak

As much as everyone awaits OpenAI’s text-to-video generation model know as Sora, it may not be readily accessible. The company, helmed by Sam Altman, has allegedly stopped usage on Sora following a group of artists sharing the access to the self-sampling tool.

Protestors calls them as Sora PR Puppets

A group of artists annoyed with this slow growth and progress approach said and left their access keys on HuggingFace to test. They wrote: ”We got early testers access to OpenAI Sora along with the assurance that we are the red team and a creative collaborator.” The group admit they were enticed into ‘art washing’ and were compelled to informing the world Sora is useful tool for artists.

I now understand that anyone with access to the leaked OpenAI Sora was able to get to it and have it taken down. In fact, OpenAI had to shut down Early Access for anyone with permission to attempt trying OpenAI Sora. In a statement made, the company explained that joining the alpha program is purely voluntary and people are not required to use the tool or offer their thoughts.

The group dubbed themselves the ‘Sora PR Puppets’ and developed their front-end which presents the AI video generator with which, using the authentication codes the members were able to acquire, they made available to users for free.

The protesting artists also accused of inviting OpenAI Sora to be tested as “creative artists” in order to find out that the company only used them as guinea pigs and utilized their contributions for promotional purposes.

They alleged that OpenAI was using Sora’s participation to market the tool as ideal for artists but and for businesses. The sources that first covered the breach stated that any user could create a 10 seconds video of up to 1080 p by simply typing a short textual description on the front end that the leakage group had provided before it shuted down.

OpenAI claims Sora as creative AI tool

OpenAI for its part argued that the program is voluntary and it has been going out of its way to support artists with free access to its API, funding, and events. OpenAI states that, “We believe AI can be a powerful creative tool and are committed to making OpenAI Sora both useful and safe.”

“Hundreds of artists in our alpha have shaped Sora’s development, helping prioritize new features and safeguards,” the spokesperson said. “Participation is voluntary, with no obligation to provide feedback or use the tool. We’ve been excited to offer these artists free access and will continue supporting them through grants, events, and other programs. We believe AI can be a powerful creative tool and are committed to making OpenAI Sora both useful and safe.”
