ChatGPT macOS app

Sam Altman, the CEO of OpenAI, has recently dampened the expectations that the forthcoming big update of ChatGPT could occur this year. The examples have been said there are some very good releases still in store for the latter part of this year! to call ChatGPT-5 though he stated in a recent Reddit AMA this week.

To avoid such embarrassing moments OpenAI will instead soon release GPT-o1 formerly known by the development codename “Project Strawberry” which is a new AI model that is slower than GPT 3 but designed to actually ‘think through’ answers. The concept that is to be implemented is to create something that is going to be specific for specific tasks say science, maths, and research.

ChatGPT-5 will not release in this year

In answering questions on the release date and the specifications of the ChatGPT-5, Altman said, “We do have several good releases coming out later this year! But nothing that we are going to refer to as GPT-5.”

In the case of DeepBleak, GPT-5 itself does not appear on OpenAI’s near-term roadmap, but users might have another model to look forward to by year-end.

When asked about the expected time to release the ChatGPT-5 or something even better, Altman replied, “We have some more great releases lined up for later this year! But, nothing that we can term as ‘ChatGPT-5’. This would make sense as there are reports that most have suggested that OpenAI will launch the next flagship model sometime 2025.

In answering another question about why ChatGPT-5 is taking this long to deliver, Altman said, “All of these models have gotten quite complex and we can’t ship as many things in parallel as we’d like to. (we also face a lot of limitations and hard decisions about what we allocated our compute towards many great ideas.).”

Why Chatgpt-5 is delaying

A Reddit user also asked Altman specifically what is on the SearchGPT these advantages over Google and amounting on, “for many queries, I find it to be a way faster/easier way to get the information I’m looking for. I think we’ll see this, especially for queries that require more complex research. I also look forward to a future where a search query can dynamically render a custom web page in response!”

Another user said, “Hello, everyone, thank you for the great questions and feedback you share with me and the team, ChatGPT, can we have a voice conversation with no hands?” For the action button shortcut on iPhone, it works, but the voice chat has to be closed every time. I do not know whether Weil took the idea seriously but she nodded and said ‘I love this idea’. Sharing with the team now!”

‘Our models are getting better at citing, which helps to anchor their answers to reliable sources, and we also think RL will help with hallucinations too – if we can detect when models hallucinate, then we can replay it for not,’ said Chen.

Weil also said that OpenAI has an ‘o’ series AI models, like GPT-4o, and o1-preview versions, which will stay in the product line after the launch of ChatGPT-5. He also informed me that he tweaked the ChatGPT Advanced Voice Mode to add a singing voice to the AI as well.
