Google’s AI assisted voice assistant known as Gemini will be receiving new features that can be used without unlocking a phone. Gem allows you to both dial and send a message to another person With the help of your smartphone, but the device must be unlocked. Now, Gem is preparing to allow its users to call or text through Gem without owning the phone unlocked.
Call and Message through Lockscreen
Reported by Android Authority Engadget says that as APK teardown of the Google app (version 15.42.30.28.arm64 beta) reveals, Google is testing new lock screen features for Gemini. Another on/off toggle introduced in the update for Gem will enable users select whether the app should be allowed to make calls and messages while the device is secured. But even if you flip it on, remember that Google states “Gemini will still prompt you to unlock when a response includes personal content, like your Gmail messages from the apps you use.”
It will be beneficial in many ways to allow Gem to make calls and send messages, while the device remains locked. People could attend to important notifications or easily make some phone calls without the need of using screen unlock. This is particularly useful in cases where time is critical or where it is directly calling to the phone is not very convenient.
Gemini UI Design Changes
It is also reported that few small UI changes that are coming to Gemini. The first change goes to the floating Gemini overlay, which gets even sleeker this time. When you type, the box will occupy the full height to display all your text. The second improvement that has been made is that all the Gem extensions are grouped in appropriate categories such as Communication, Device Control, Travel, Media and Productivity.
The floating border of ‘’Gemini’’ overlay has few elements; the text-input box extends vertically in order to show all the text. Also, a new fully disentangled interface splits all the Gemini extensions and puts them into distinct categories. From the screenshots, there are some suggested categories including Communication, Device Control, Travel, Media.
