Google has begun rolling out one of the announced features, “Contextual Smart Replies” responses, or what we continue to call Smart Replies for Gmail are now available on Android and iOS.
Gemini Contextual Smart Replies In Gmail
Contextual Smart Replies was launched by Google in Gmail in 2017, using machine learning to suggest three replies to the messages. In other words, with the help of Gemini, Google contextualizes the content of the email and offers replies that will be the most appropriate for the particular conversation.
They said in the Workspace update that their AI model is making Gmail’s replies smarter. What this means for you is that you’ll receive more intelligent replies that provide more information and your personality when required.
Google says that the contextual version of the smart reply is going to provide “more detailed responses to …the extent of your message’s intent.”
How does it work?
Once the user composes an email reply, three proactive response options based on the entire conversation content of the email client are displayed in the form of smart replies, each with varying tonality and topic.
To make its functioning even clearer, users can preview the text by long-pressing any of the response buttons. Every response provides a preview of the text when the mouse is placed over the option, simply select the response that seems appropriate to the situation, fine-tune it or, if none of the improvements is needed, send the response at once.
Availability
For now, new contextual Smart Replies are available to Gemini Business, Enterprise, Education, Education Premium, and Google One AI Premium plans.
It is still being developed only for the English language, yet, it is possible to expand the list of the supported languages in the future. This is typical of any and all new server-side enhancements like this one and may take a couple of weeks before it is available for your account.
