Gemini button

In June, Messages added a Gemini floating action button above ‘Start chat’ to make it easier to start chatting with Google. Google Messages Gemini button saga goes on with FAB shrinking to its original size.

A month ago the FAB was already as wide as the button below it, but not as tall. When you swipe, both become a square to achieve the pair of FAB icons. From an aesthetic point of view, it conceals an undeniable margin of information at the bottom.

Google Messages Gemini button has become smaller

Currently in the beta release the FAB has returned to the small FAB about a third the size of that start chat. This rounded square is less aggressive but it fits right well, the sparkle icon is more than sufficient and the “Gemini” written above as in the previous design is redundant.

Skeptibly, in Google settings there is still the old graphic for the enabling/disabling of the Gemini button, which was a rather small Floating Action Button. All in all, I believe that by making it small the probability that people will keep the button active will be higher.
