It was previewed at I/O 2024 in May, the Gemini Q&A panel would become broadly available in Gmail for Android and iOS, especially for the users of Workspace Labs. Also, this is going to be a more complete version of Gemini for your emails on mobile.

Gemini Q&A Is Available In Gmail

The extent of Gemini in mobile Gmail earlier was a ‘Summarise feature’ and ‘Help me write’ which was launched in July. the Gmail’s Gemini Q&A found on the desktop web to the Android and iOS apps on the side panel. 

The display size presents a more interesting design challenge, the new update starts with a new sparkle icon on the top-right corner of the inbox that would bring the Gemini sheet, some suggestions are offered, however, you can enter a full prompt as you want. For instance, tapping “Show unread emails from today/week” will enable you to run a search essentially with the appropriate filters set.

Moreover, the Gemini button also appears in the app bar next to the archive option which lets access the AI-powered tool when you are viewing the email. While tapping on it a sheet appears where you can enter your desired prompt or you can use the predefined suggestions like summarising the email, drafting a reply, or scheduling any events. With the help of this feature, a task can be simplified such as translating or responding to an email directly within in the app. 

Therefore, the “Summaries this email” feature has previously only worked on two or more responses, now it has expanded its performance to working on long emails which are particularly great for newsletters and other long emails. The Gemini Q&A has a per-session history, while you can able to expand the panel as necessary to take up the entire screen. Also, it comes with the ability to “clear history”  an option available in the corner. 

Following the reports, the Gmail Gemini Q&A is seeing its wider availability for those users who had enrolled in the Workspace Labs. furthermore, it has been slowly rolling out in upcoming weeks for the testers and the expected launch is for Premium subscribers of Google One AI.
