AI Overview

Google shared several enhancements in the Google AI Overview for continuous efforts to help people discover the wealth of the World Wide Web, some improvements for it in Search Labs – and making AI Overviews available in six more countries.

Connecting with the web with AI Overview

While introducing AI Overviews to Search, we continue to center the things people are trying to find and the variety of views and voices available to them. These new features show that people have been visiting a wide variety of websites for the answers to more complicated questions. Now we are providing more ways to preview relevant sites as you search: a new right-hand link panel for the AI Overviews mode on the desktop. These updates are now live worldwide with effect from today for AI features in all the countries where the assistant has been launched and for Search Labs in over 120 countries and territories.

And, of course, the above and below AI features will remain the familiar opportunities for receiving options for action and getting in touch with businesses for everyone who needs them and sees them.

Experience the new way of Search Labs

If you’d like to test out the newest in AI and the things we’re currently developing and experimenting with, you can go to Search Labs and choose the option “AI Overviews and more”- this includes two updates being released today.

The first one is the option of “saving” certain AI overviews for further use and returning to the useful information and sources that were found while using the search field. As with the previous example, this capability only works for English at present when searching from the U. S., and you have to opt into the “AI Overviews and more” Search Labs experiment.

Second, on some AI Overviews, there will be an option to make the text easier to read with a single tap, which we showed you earlier this year. This comes in handy if you are not well versed in a given field concerning the topic in issue and you prefer an easy way to understand the information. This is only available if you are participating in the “AI Overviews and More” experiment in Search Labs, for English queries in the U.S.

Trying to extend the choice of AI Overviews to more locations in the world

Significative experiments are performed to check the reaction of people to modifications to Search. Since getting started in the U. S. users of this feature use Search more & report greater satisfaction with the results they get. This can be understood using referring to the table that shows that people interested in helping with complex topics interact more and returning users frequently visit the section of AI Overviews. Also, we observe a greater level of involvement from the younger audience, where audiences between the ages of 18 and 24 years access Search with these new features.

After extensive testing and positive feedback, including in the U. S. and Search Labs globally, we’re bringing the helpfulness of AI Overviews to six new countries: It is currently available in the United Kingdom, India, Japan, Indonesia, Mexico, and Brazil – in addition to offering local language service in the country it operates.
