Circle to Search shortcut

Google has come up with a new update that provides a Circle to Search shortcut feature when it views certain images, in the Files by Google. Talking about Circle to Search it doesn’t have an official icon, however, Google is testing two icons for its new update. First is the magnifying glass and AI sparkle, which going to be used as a displayed icon by the File app representing its Smart Search capability. Whereas, the second design is more recognizable for the Google Lens logo.

Therefore, simply tapping on ‘Circle to Search’ activates it directly without a long press on the navigation handle, which used to be the earlier way of accessing this feature. Also, the image can be easily sent to ‘Copy to Search’ to enable the users to interact with an image directly with the help of this feature, without any involvement of Files by the Google UI interface.

Moreover, the ‘Circle to Search shortcut ’ floating action button that displays in the Files by Google app, is a severe-side update that is directly pushed by Google to users. However, the Beta channel users might get access to test this feature and be able to provide feedback about this feature.

Files by Google adds Circle To Search for Images, rolls out AI summaries

Meanwhile, the latest beta (version 1.4515.x) has revealed how the “AI-generated summaries” are being introduced for  “files containing the text”. This feature will have the capability to generate relevant summaries of the content within text-based files such as documents, notes, or PDFs. Users can enable this feature from the app’s settings, and have control over it. The feature can be turned off if users don’t want the automatic summary generation.

Also, the summarisation process is expected to leverage “Gemini Nano” which is likely to be a lightweight on-device version of the Google Gemini AI model.
