MediaTek

During its unfolding, MediaTek announced its intentions to introduce the Dimensity 9400 flagship series in October, which should be compatible with most of the large language models that are currently available. New specifics regarding MediaTek’s plan in AI have emerged, WCCftech and Chinese media, MyDrivers reported that MediaTek collaborates with NVIDIA to release an AI PC chip in the first half of 2025.

NVIDIA x MediaTek AI PC chip expected to launch by the first half of 2025

This specific NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 graphics card has been around for some time now but originally it was offered with GDDR6X memory, as seen in the previous link. GDDR6 memory chips will be in the new card but there does not seem to be any the change in the packaging of the card. It could be written on the back but more preferable to add on the front panel the memory type “GDDR6” for these newer models.

The AI PC SoC is stated to compete directly with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X Elite series. Wccftech supposes that the manufacture of the chip will be based on the ARM architecture of TSMC’s 3nm node. A report highlighting the SoC also suggests that with NVIDIA involved, one might also expect original advances in the field of integrated graphics. Also, the report points out the fact that MediaTek, with its experience in the manufacturing of power-efficient mobile chips such as Dimensity 9400, maybe in a good position to launch a chip for the AI PC segment that is not only powerful but also efficient.

As in CES 2025, NVIDIA and MediaTek could come out on stage to announce a new Arm-based AI processor with this technology. .. that was a big reduction of both the technology‘s showcase effect and the competitive pressure it applied on AMD, Intel, and Qualcomm at the beginning of 2025. The unveiling would be big enough on its own, with a release in the months after (1H 2025).

As per the Board Channels, the initial release of RTX 4070 with GDDR6X memory will likely be scarce while the new card will help with the short supply.

Still, the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 is one of the finest GPUs in the Ada series, and even with the RTX 4070 Super taking its place at $50 more, the card flies off the shelves.

Unfortunately, there has been no word from NVIDIA and MediaTek about the AI PC chip, meaning that it will be a surprise launch, one which can change the status quo, given how Intel and AMD are both underperforming in their niches, MediaTek can offer an unmissable product.
