In the first half of 2024, OpenAI launched two versions of its AI platforms GPT-4o and GPT-4o mini. Following this they had also launched the SearchGPT prototype and announced their partnership with Apple. OpenAI may reportedly launch its ChatGPT-5 before the end of this year. However the official release date for this update has not yet been announced, the rumors have stated some information related to pricing, release date, and upcoming features.
ChatGPT-5: Expected Release Date
Therefore not an official release date has been confirmed yet for the release of ChatGPT 5, OpenAI has confirmed a new version of ChatGPT in a blog post dated May 28, Sam Altman himself commented on OpenAI’s progress and explained, that they are expecting to take a significant leap forward… and OpenAI becomes early in developing such a complex system.
ChatGPT is expected to launch at the end of 2024, as OpenAI specified that the testing of the safety and security performance of the GPT model, so may take a longer time, and can be launched in early 2025.
ChatGPT-5: Price and Subscription
OpenAI currently offers four pricing tiers for ChaGPT: Free, Plus, Team, and Enterprise. The Free and tiers are for everyday users while the Team and Enterprise tiers are geared more toward businesses. However, the Plus subscription currently costs $20 per month including access to GPT-4, 4o, and 4o mini as well as the new features. OpenAI has not given any indication related to changing the price of ChatGPT-5. The only exception is users who access ChatGPT with upcoming Apple Intelligence.

OpenAI has described ChatGPT-5 as “a significant leap forward” and will be able to resolve many errors in GPT-4.
The CEO of OpenAI has revealed that GPT-5 will have better reasoning capabilities and make fewer mistakes. Also, it will be useful for a much wider variety of tasks compared to previous models. It enables users to provide an understanding of context and save their personalized conversations. It clarifies questions and gives useful answers.
Furthermore, safety and security will be its top priorities, OpenAI is one of those 16 leading AI companies that signed onto a set of AI safety guidelines, also OpenAI will guardrails to prevent people from misusing ChatGPT.
Apple Intelligence Compatibility
The Apple Intelligence launch has reportedly included free access to OpenAI’s platform ChatGPT. This collaboration has led to a changed game for OpenAI by creating privacy-minded users to access ChatGPT without sharing their data, also this integration is completely private and doesn’t require an additional subscription. However, neither Apple nor OpenAI has announced how soon Apple Intelligence will receive access to future ChatGPT updates.
Outlook
ChatGPT-5 could arrive in late 2024, although it is going through safety checks could push it back to early or mid-2025. Expectation says that improvement in conversational skills, better language processing, improved contextual understanding, and more personalized and stronger safety features in third-party apps, devices, and services like Apple Intelligence.
