Snapchat is extending GenAI functions to a program that developers can incorporate when designing the AR special effects found in the application called lenses. These are special effects that the users can incorporate into the videos and photos in the application. The company said already it employs GenAI to drive a selection of features, which are currently obtainable on Snap, including bitmoji backgrounds, chat wallpapers, Dreams, and AI pets. With Lens Studio as the new AR authoring tool, users will be able to create bespoke machine-learning modes for the lenses. Also, gene elements are integrated into a program that developers can apply when designing the AR special effects of the app called lenses. These are features that users can place on videos or pictures when using the application.

The new tools in the AR authoring tool – Lens Studio – will enable users to develop unique machine-learning modes to drive the lenses.
