Google has officially released its Gemini AI app in India with nine Indian language options namely Hindi, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Tamil, Telugu, and Urdu. Notably, Google rebranded its Bard AI chatbot as Gemini in February and later released a separate app. However, Gemini users in India will have to wait for nearly four months to get the standalone app which will make the use of this chatbot easier for them.
For Gemini to be on Android, the users can either download the application from the Play Store or use the Google Assistant Opt-in. For iOS, Gemini will be available through the Google app in the following weeks. Like Google’s earlier voice assistant that pops up as an overlay, Gemini can be activated by saying ‘Hey Google’. Google has also stated that it is going to launch Gemini in Google Messages in India to help users draft messages, come up with ideas, plan an event, and much more within the Messages application. However, it will be initially launched in English and only for ‘select devices. ’
Gemini 1.5 Pro Will Get Advanced Features
Powered by Gemini 1.0 Pro is a free-to-use AI chatbot that also has a paid version that provides access to Gemini Advanced which was developed from Gemini 1.5 Pro a large language model with a context window of 1 million tokens. The tech giant says Gemini 1.5 Pro will be able to “process all sorts of data, be it plain text in emails and documents, hours of videos, or extensive code bases” shortly. The company also said that it is starting to introduce Gemini into Google Messages in English for Indian users today.
Google also revealed that it will be launching the Gemini 1.5 Pro language models in India. The model comes with a 1 million token window, implying that it can accept enormous volumes of input, such as extensive writings and lengthy videos.
Gemini AI also arrives in other countries
During the Google I/O developers’ meeting, which took place last month, Google described its plans for integration of Gemini into Gmail, YouTube, Google Messages, and Android. In addition to India, Google has also launched the Gemini app in Bangladesh, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and Turkey. The company confirms that these files are not employed to train the AI models and are only accessible by a particular user. While the Gemini app is being launched for Android users in India through the Google Play Store, it will only be available in the Google app for iOS users.
