To add Gemini to your Chrome browser, you’ll only need two things: Chrome browser’s latest version and a Google account. Let me show you how to install the Gemini extension on Chrome with version 125.0.6422. 60.
How do I add Gemini to Chrome?
- Ensure that you are signed in to your Google account before opening Chrome. Then, direct Chrome to Gemini. google. com/extensions. On this page, there are five boxes, and each box represents one feature.
- You can turn on/off the enable/disable switch for each of them. I have turned on all the options except for the Google Workspace one as I do not want Gemini to see my documents in Google Drive.
- After enabling these features, go to Gemini. google. com and click the + sign on the left pane to create a new conversation, supported by the extension you have installed.
Installation of the Gemini Side Panel extension
- Install an extension for Chrome that will open Gemini as a sidebar. This is not the official Google Gemini Extension because frankly, that one stinks.
- Your experience with this feature may differ, but it’s great to know what is coming down the pipe from Google.
If you log in using your work account, your company may have Gemini access disabled for that account. If you have a personal account, it has to be enabled. Go to Gemini. google. Click on com/extensions which will open up the extensions that you can install to your Chrome browser. There will be six extensions that you can add: Google Flight, Google Hotel, Google Map, Google Workspace, YouTube, and YouTube Music. You can turn them on or off according to which of them you’d like to incorporate. Once you click the Gemini Side Panel extension, the extension will appear and you will be asked to use the chatbot.
