At the Mobile World Congress in Shanghai, Honor released AI eye protection to enhance people’s vision health by introducing a feature that mimics defocused glasses on smart devices, a move that has aimed to further raise awareness of the rising incidence of myopia due to screen time.

First, there’s the “AI Defocus Eye Protection that “simulates defocus glasses”. Defocus glasses are prescription contact lenses used for myopic correction. How Honor intends to do this with software remains unclear. The company asserts that it helps to decrease transient myopia in readers by 13 degrees and in some cases, by 75 degrees.

Deepfake Detection

Following this is a new feature that utilizes the latest technological advancements in AI to detect fakes deep fake content. In an interview with HONOR, it said that its deepfake detection AI will evaluate features such as eye contact, image sharpness, and lighting to establish if the images are fake or not. The feature is not restricted to images as it can scan through videos in real time to avoid any scam or impersonation.

Besides, with the help of the large video and image database of online scams, AI Deepfake Detection can identify, screen, and compare within 3 seconds. If synthetic or altered content is identified by the feature, a risk warning is provided to the user to prevent them from interacting with the potential scammers anymore for their security.
