Google is said to be adding a new “AI Mode” to its search engine, which provides users an experience similar to its Gemini Chatbot, according to a write-up from The Information. It is assumed that, in redesigned tabs with names such as “All,” “Images,” “Videos,” and “Shopping,” the AI Mode interface is planned to be located on the left side of the tabs.
AI Mode in Google Search
According to the blog post-Gadget360, future code was discovered that hinted that the feature could encompass voice requests, which could mean that former users would be able to control AI Mode using voice commands.
This means that with OpenAI launching search in ChatGPT for everyone to use, Google may feel the pressure to combine search and AI once more. The company already does AI search summaries for some queries and has recently expanded the service to several dozen more countries in October.
People could get a brief of important information from top-ranked sites as provided by the AI system. Also, people could interact with the search with more focus or, again, use follow-up questions and inquiry in natural language.
AI Mode implies that a user can enter a search query and receive the desired result in the form of poetry, a story, or a piece of code, based on his query. With regards to people’s privacy, AI could filter out results according to their previous searches and history.
Such a decision made by Google hints more at the direction we are likely to see most traditional search engines take in the future. The listed API integrates some AI functionalities directly into the basic search framework in order to enhance the quality, relevance, and user experience of a search.
When users select the AI Mode, the user will be taken to another interface that will look like Gemini’s version for the web. In response to a search query, the user will be given information, links, other related websites, and a ‘question’ button.
Some people have heard that AI Mode will enable users to dictate commands via typed and spoken words. Nevertheless, the exact time at which Google is going to release this new AI feature on Google Search is still unanswered.
