Gemini is also planning to extend its services further to include new extensions for deep linking integrated with Samsung native stock applications running on Galaxy devices. Thanks to these, users can manage options within the Samsung Clock, Notes, Reminders, and Calendar apps using Google’s generative AI assistant. As far as can be gathered, the functionality is linked to an Android 16 theme called App Functions.
Gemini May Include Samsung App’s Extension
Android Authority spotted, Some preliminary code integration estimates point to its start in Samsung Clock, Samsung Notes, Samsung Calendar, and, you know, Samsung Reminders. Since the functionality seems to depend on the App Functions API, it does not appear possible for Gemini to exert control over these Samsung apps before the Android 16 release.
Gemini, an AI from Google, is planning on partnering with the company Samsung in the device’s Samsung Reminders application. The integration means that users will be able to set reminders through Gemini, and the process will be optimized as one single application. Google may be looking to intermesh with Samsung even more, which might mean a lot of space for more extensions that only work with Samsung products.
Regarding the activities of Samsung Notes, Gemini might use the app to create, delete, search, or bring changes to note folders or singular notes. The generative AI assistant could also write, cancel, or modify tasks in Samsung Reminder and possibly delete, create, locate, and modify events in Samsung Calendar.
The code strings refer to a banner that will appear on Galaxy devices. The fact that it says this user will be able to do more with their Samsung device, combined with the plural use of the terms services and apps, hints at more Samsung-related extensions that may be on the way.
However, with beta version 15.49.40, they seem to concentrate on Samsung Reminders alone, something that has been achieved against the backdrop of preparing the app for greater growth in the near future.
We also saw the flag for the restrict_callers_with_execute_app_functions permission—an Android 16 permission for system applications that assume the ASSISTANT role to “act on behalf of users within applications.”
