Since the launch of routines using Gemini on Android, it has been shown that “shortcuts to start a routine and routines attached to alarms in the Clock app no longer work. “Google Assistant was triggered as the routines do not work properly; however, Google states that “not all starters or actions are supported while using Routine with Gemini Mobile App.”.
Moreover, understanding it more clearly within the Gemini environment, Google Assistant can be activated to run specific routines when you say “start [routine].”
Gemini Mobile App : Google Assistant Routines On Android
However, it does have some limitations: You need to speak the command to trigger the routine; typing the command won’t work, and it is not sure that the tasks the routine performs will work when you use them with Gemini Mobile App. Although this is a convenient feature, it still does not support everything you expect from Google Assistant routines.
Furthermore, the features relate to when the Gemini will skip the action if it is not supported: activating routines via typed commands, starting at specific times or locations, or using home screen shortcuts’ starters’ and playing music, radio, or podcasts, sharing fitness and sleep stats, or sharing poems or quotes, ‘action’.
Therefore, besides running routines, you can see that support is live by going to Gemini Settings>Google Assistant features in Gemini>Routines (shown at the bottom).
The unsupported Assistant features that won’t work with Gemini are the ‘Interpreter mode’ feature, which allows Google Assistant to translate conversations in different languages, and ‘Media service providers’, which refers to services like Spotify, YouTube, or Netflix, which are controlled by Google Assistant to play music videos or other media.
