Gemini extensions are actually a set of tools and features that can be integrated with Gemini AI as add-ons to fulfil customers’ demands. Such extensions can be created by third-party developers or by Google. This means that Gemini extensions can be a useful method of changing the platform’s interface and making it as useful as possible for certain jobs.
Gemini Extensions
Google Gemini Extensions allows you to use Gemini to interact with other Google apps and services, enabling meaningful responses to your queries. If you want to enter and use Google Gemini Extensions, then select the option saying “Settings”, and then when you get the dropdown option, select “Extensions”.
This leads you to the Extension store and you will notice that the available apps are Google Flights, Google Maps and Google Hotels, YouTube and Google Workspace, which includes Email, Docs, and Drive. From there you are able to turn on whichever one you wish to use. Gemini Extensions allows additional access to multiple web services including Google Maps, YouTube Music, and Gmail to the AI chatbot.
Google Flight Extension
Gemini’s Google Flights Extension allows you to receive real-time flight data and recommendations for travel from the comfort of your browser. After turning on the switch for the extension, Gemini fasts Emails, and you can ask it questions about flights. The Google Flights Extension allows one to have the information they need and even travel services from Gemini in real time. After flipping on the switch for the extension, you can quiz Gemini about flights.
YouTube Extension
Sometimes you might find yourself watching something on YouTube, but you have no idea what to look for. Perhaps you have a certain topic in your head, it might be cooking, gaming, or history, and you don’t know which video is worth watching. In order to help you when toggled on, there is the YouTube Extension on Gemini. You can access it and command it to “suggest a YouTube video”.
Workspace Extensions
Almost all of us are within Google’s ecosystem, and therefore, the Workspace extension is handy if you are handling thousands of emails and documents. You can ask it to provide summaries for large documents — Gemini Advanced stands out for the service in this aspect because it has a vastly broader context window, so it can process up to 1,500 pages at once.
Map Extensions
The Maps extension could appear uninteresting initially: the most apparent function allows you to ask Gemini for directions to the nearest places, but that’s not all. This means that instead of typing a question such as “Recommend the best places to get clay pot rice in Hong Kong according to reviews,” you’ll be able to complete it within several minutes. The chatbot also ends the response with a map being embedded into the location.
