Flipkart ChatGPT

A well-known online shopping platform ‘Flipkart’ is a Walmart-owned online retailer, and recently it will evaluate its Artificial Intelligence to tackle logistics issues and frauds in the past, also to cope with experiments in Natural Language Generation (NGL) -based chatbots, that are similar to Open-AI’s ChatGPT.

Flipkart Integrates ChatGPT To Enhanced E-Commerce Experience

Jeyandra Venugopal, Flipkart’s Chief Product and Technology Officer said in an interview “We are very, very interested in exploring use cases of ChatGPT and are looking at large NGL models. In fact, we have something cooking and we are working it in the backend”.  In addition to this, he has expressed his concerns about the accuracy levels and susceptibility to give incorrect information.

Therefore he said “ So if you are just doing general chit-chat and you get incorrect information on which you are not basing any monetary decisions like buying a product, it is fine. Even Open-AI has warned against using it for anything critical as there are a lot of issues to be bugged out”

In recent reports, it was warned by the OpenAI founder Sam Altman that ChatGPT cannot particularly rely on “anything important”. Interestingly Flipkart is no stranger to language models, and the company has been focused on traditional natural language processing (NLP). however, incorporating ChatGPT might be new for them.

With reference, ‘NLP is the algorithms capable of understanding the meaning of a body of text, while NGL consists of algorithms that can generate human language text.

Venugopal said this year, that Flipkart will go to increase its investment towards improving the personalization experience of shoppers and coverage of its technologies, likely to be automated machine translation and voice and image search.

Also last year the company showed its upgradation in the shopping app to simply the navigation and added live commerce image search for premium brands.

Additionally, Venugopal said, “We saw a spectacular level of adoption during festive season sales with millions of searches using image search as a discovery mechanism”.

Also, he said that Flipkart will incorporate its investment towards ‘augmented reality (AR)’, ‘virtual reality (VR), and ‘camera-based features for discovery. Flipverse was announced by the e-commerce firm as a metaverse platform, last year.

The company has also taken the initiative to pilot the middle-mile delivery for smaller bag-sized shipments. Flipkart ran pilots with the Telangana government last year to use drones for quick delivery of life-saving medicines, plasma, blood, and vaccines.

However, doing last-mile deliveries using drones will take more time as the technology needs to be more mature a lot, said Venugopal.
