Circle to Search crop share

13/12/2024 – Google is expanding its latest significant “Circle to Search” feature widely to more Android devices. Recently, OnePlus devices are getting this feature. However, Xiaomi is also added to this list. It is expected that more Chinese mobile manufacturing companies are about to receive this feature soon.

The Circle to Search feature is available on Android for easy access to Search. You can search any object on your screen using a gestural command, for example, circle, tap, draw, or highlight. Self-organized checking for transparency by automatically identifying if certain pictures that were used were real or fake.

How to use the Circle to Search feature?

  • Start Circle to Search for 3-button navigation mode: Press the Home button for a long time.
  • In gesture navigation mode, you need to press the handle for a long time.
  • Find out how to navigate with an Android phone.
  • Select a text, image, or video that you wish to search by clicking, circling, or tapping anywhere around it.
  • If you want, you can narrow it down by entering text into the search box.
  • Your search results are presented at the bottom part of the screen.
  • For more results further down, swipe up the screen.

Many Android devices to get Circle to Search

Specifically, Google aimed at getting Circle to Search to 200 million devices by the end of 2024, which forced the company to open the feature to Android devices from other manufacturers, including Honor and Xiaomi.

Firstly, there are a few devices that quite literally cannot get Circle to Search. I took poor screenshots of them, however; some of these are excluded from the list above: Samsung’s Galaxy W22, W23, and W23 Flip are all China-only models of Samsung’s foldables. As they will not export them to China, these machines cannot back Circle to Search and do not have Google services at all, while being technically prepared for it on a system level.

The missing list includes the Motorola Edge 50 Ultra, which the Android Authority used who first mentioned the existence of this list but failed to locate it now reports that this phone now comes with the feature.

The Honor 200 Series and Honor Magic V3 are also absent here, yet Circle to Search was recently announced to be coming to them. Xiaomi 14T Pro is on its own as the only Xiaomi device presented, while Mix Flip and 14T were also known to support the feature.
