Apple Inc. released the iPhone 16 series, the company’s marquee product, on the assumption that it can lure patrons with only marginal enhancements to the handset’s hardware and a still nonexistent artificial intelligence. New colors or designs are provided in the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus along with a new customizable Action button which has only been available in newer iPhone models.
Enhanced Hardware
More specifically, the two models have a better processor and a new Camera Control button. The iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max models are unique in having slightly larger screens, thinner bezels as well as an A18 Pro chip, which includes a boosted neural engine that is specialized to deal with Apple artificial intelligence workloads. This is an attempt to enhance the photo quality and the quality of videos by expanding the possibility of slow motion.
Apple’s CEO Tim Cook introduced the smartphone alongside newly designed watches, and AirPods earphones during the Monday event replete with references to Apple intelligence. The iPhone 16 was designed for AI “from scratch,” he said, but the features will be incorporated into the phone in stages, through software updates only.
Thus, while Google, Microsoft, and other competitors moved to the period of generating AI, Apple Intelligence is still in its budding stage. The new iPhones will be AI optimized, but the most advanced elements of Apple Intelligence will be rolled out incrementally; the first set of tools is due for beta in October. A first set of functionality will include the summarization of messages and notifications; further enhancements are to follow.
Apple Watch 10 series
Of course, the new Apple Watch, the Series 10 model, is thinner but still has 30% more screen real estate than you might think. Available in over 150 places, the sleep apnea feature will be, according to the company. It is now about 10 percent thinner than the Series 9 version of the watch. It is also available in a new delicious titanium chassis that is lighter than the aluminum types. The device is priced at $399 and is expected to hit the market on Sept 20.
This also included a remake of the AirPods that sells for $129 with a smaller case together with a USB-C charger. One version for $179 will also be put on sale; it will be a mid-range product that offers noise cancellation. This was only a feature on the high-end AirPods Pro.
Apple is into not-so-quite-ready AI features
Apple is late to the party when it comes to generative AI — game tech peers Alphabet Inc.’s Google and Microsoft Corp are more advanced. The presentation on Monday was partly to citizens and to Wall Street, Apple has the talent to be serious about this.
But the AI technology of the Cupertino, California-based company is still in a nascent stage. Many of the features of the Apple Intelligence tools have been delayed and the crucial ones will not be available until next year. Currently, the technology can summarize messages and notifications and lacks the ‘cool’ features of the rival systems.
Apple stocks fell below $ 1000 and Apple shares mainly tumbled over 1%. When sampling, the visitor numbers rose to 5% during the event despite a subsequent rise in the number of visitors.
