HyperOS is a major improvement from Xiaomi’s MIUI and comes with several new AI-based features aimed at improving user experience and connectivity of devices.

Xiaomi HyperOS An Overview 

The basis of Xiaomi HyperOS is composed of Linux and the proprietary Xiaomi Vela system. HyperOS AI Features outstanding capacity and specific system resource management characteristics allow every device to perform optimally. Based on Xiaomi HyperOS, the basic layer can run on more than 200 processor platforms and 20 mainstream file systems, which can accommodate hundreds of device categories and thousands of SKUs. This makes it possible to configure, operate, and deploy to suit hardware needs. 

The RAM sizes of compatible devices range from at least 64000 bits to as big as 24 billion bits. Following the principle of only configuring necessary resources based on varying hardware, coupled with file deduplication and compression of the underlying IO stack, Xiaomi HyperOS is naturally lightweight: The smartphone’s system firmware takes only 8. 75GB, which is much better than competitors.

Major AI features of Xiaomi HyperOS

  • AI Portraits and Avatars: With the help of artificial intelligence, users can develop unique avatars and get different portraits using plain-text descriptions. This feature is still in beta and initially to a few generations per month​.
  • AI Gallery Search and Editor: This feature helps find pictures by the content and offers tools, which can be compared with professional software, such as AI Expansion and AI Erase Pro to edit images​ (HyperOS Updates – MIUI Updates)​.
  • AI Subtitles and Transcription: HyperOS can offer transcription and translation services during video playback, calls, and meetings in real-time. It also provides an artificial intelligence summary of the transcriptions to highlight the important aspects​
  • Xiaomi HyperMind: This is an Artificial Intelligence, that adapts to the user’s schedule over time and only suggests things and controls smart home devices from a schedule that has been learned from the user.
  • Enhanced Security: HyperOS has advanced security measures like complete data encryption for transmission and the Hypers: TEE for data security. It also has a Shutdown Confirmation option to prevent one shutting down the device without entering a PIN​
  • Lightweight and Fast: HyperOS is lightweight; it occupies considerably less space on the disk compared to previous versions and other operating systems, which positively affects its speed and performance​
  • Cross-Device Functionality: HyperOS wants to create a single environment for different devices such as smart home devices and IoT devices. This can allow for the continuity of tasks from one device to another and general clipboard functionality.

Currently, Xiaomi has developed HyperOS which is a leap forward compared to other mobile operating systems in terms of AI and security features as well as the ability to work on various devices providing the user with an intelligent and maximized OS.
