Google is said to be planning on adding another feature to the Gemini chatbot. This new AI is reported to be arriving in Gemini Live, the two-way verbal communication feature that currently provides a chatbot experience without touching the screen.
According to the report, the Mountain View-based technology giant is planning to extend Gemini Live support for files being uploaded to Gemini. So far, people can only text with such content, but it may soon be possible to do it by voice.
At present, Gemini AI is Google’s generative AI chatbot capable of doing quite a lot still. It can answer questions and generate pictures for you but can also do things for you. Gemini Advanced users can upload text documents and complex spreadsheets and have the AI modify them.
Android Authority found the news about the new Gemini feature. While analyzing the APK of the Google app beta version 15.45.33.ve.arm64 beta, it was identified the presence of the feature. Some recent strings of code have indicated, it is claimed, that it is developing this new capability for Gemini Live.
- As of now, compatible Gemini Advanced users can share and communicate with various file types like text documents as well as spreadsheets.
- When the users upload files, the new feature will recommend switching to Gemini Live.
- The functionality to be developed also takes the conversational approach in which Gemini Live can interact with files more flexibly.
Gemini will know, for instance, when you are adding a file whether you uploaded it from your device or through Google Drive, and will propose that it may be to your benefit to attempt to move whatever you are about to embark on over to Gemini Live as this platform is entirely contextual and conversational.
