The Nothing OS 3.0 Open Beta 2 update has been rolled out for the users of the Nothing phone 2a. Phone 2a users received the beta 1 update last month with new features. Recently, Nothing Phone 2a received an October security patch with 90fps BGMI (PUBG) support. Users who are testing the Android 15 update are not eligible for the October 2024 update.
Nothing OS 3.0 Open Beta 2 brings a dozen new features, along with several performance improvements and software tweaks. The first update has included a global system redesign. Instead of the Home screen and Lock screen, the application is based on Quick Settings and the Smart Drawers, which are intuitive in the interface, whereas Android 15 is inherited deep down and enriched in this release.
Nothing OS 3.0 Open Beta 2 Brings New and Many Improvement Feature
The shared widgets will be such a feature that will be available only on Nothing devices and will enable users to communicate with each other through widgets. First, let it be kept relatively simple; all it’ll be able to do is provide reactions that will appear on other linked devices. However, Nothing does have plans to become a player in those segments in the future.
Regarding the Quick Settings enhancements, nothing has made an overhaul of the layout by making necessary adjustments, better swipe, transition, and resizing of tiles. The company has also “enhanced the way a user can embrace a new interaction with the ring tile” as well.
The Smart Drawer is also being adjusted and should become more precise in terms of application sorting. But for the people who do not like to plan and make all the preparations on their own, there is a new auto-sort option that will do the job for you.
There are also some cameras improved with this update, with the Ultra HDR mode receiving some “improved brightness” as well as HDR. Meantime, there will be an optimized photo mode for taking portrait images and much better stability when toggling the camera mode.
No aspect of AI integration will be featured this round on the feature promising to prioritize the often-used apps in order to arrange them and ensure optimal usability. In addition, the new update to PUBG players should reap benefits through increased frame rates while playing games, which are beneficial with up to 90 fps. It is a major feature for Phone 2a users because in the October 2024 update, beta users missed out on the experience of 90fps BGMI (PUBG) support.
Of course, nothing will also contribute more details to the pop-up view, thus enabling newcomers to appreciate the feature more easily. As you would expect, this update will also include any needed bug fixes and performance enhancements as required as well.
