Google which is known to be working on Gemini AI, is said to be preparing a new button on the Android lock screen. As stated in the recent report, Gemini Button for Android Lock Screen could wake up the Gemini virtual assistant, or present other methods to initiate the AI features. The possibility was noticed in the most recent Android 15 beta build but it is not available to beta users.
Gemini Button for Android Lock Screen
The source Android Authority has reported that it first found the button in the Android 15 QPR1 Beta 2 release, but it is hidden and non-operative for the testers. It is also possible that the new button with sparkle icon often displayed next to Gemini means that users will find new ways of interacting with AI added to their devices.
Nevertheless, during the testing process, they did not have any effect, though in the further updates, this button can come in handy. The report supposes that the button can turn on Gemini virtual assistant, however the users already have several ways to do it, therefore the existence of such a button can mean that there is another AI element connected with Gemini.
Even if the purpose of this potential Gemini button is still unknown, it speaks volumes about Google’s ongoing efforts to enhance AI in its environment. If this feature is under works then, more information might be shared in the next Google’s I/O event.
Currently, no official statement from the company can be obtained and as it is often the case with such early software discovery – it’s better to take all the findings with the grain of salt until the company releases some new information.
This may be the potential feature that opens an exciting new chapter for how people can interact with apps and services with the help of AI on Android-based mobile devices and that basically expanded the overall concept of a smartphone.
