Gems originally debuted on the desktop for Gemini and now they’re coming to the mobile app, though a Gemini homepage redesign may be in the works. The Gems is an interface that enables you to build one-off experts for Gemini to handle particular tasks. For repeated tasks, Gems enables you to build your very own Gemini, and at first, the program was released for Google’s generative AI chatbot for computers only.
Gems now available in the Mobile App
Now Gems are beginning to roll out for the Gemini app for Android & iOS with the change in the ‘Recent’ tab explicitly to ‘Chat & Gems’. Well, if you don’t see this update just yet, you can force-stop the Gemini app so it will reopen or refresh the app.
The “Gem manager” now appears in the avatar menu alongside three top tabs: All Yours, Your Gems, and By Google. On the right side after the green button ‘Open’ there will be a brief description of the custom chatbot and the carousel with its applications. But that isn’t the only makeover that Gemini appears to be getting.
Gemini gets a redesigned homepage
It appears a fascinating revamp is on its way to the Gemini homepage: The “Hello” welcome sign is no longer there; no longer are there any suggestions.
This new update to the homepage has a stripped-down layout which is more or less similar to Google Search website’s homepage. Still, for those who spend more time using Gemini, these rotating suggestions might not be as useful as they used to be. But the new look homepage does not appear to have been extended to everyone just as yet (some people have also reported it for mobile devices). It reduces the complexity of the UI and has a rather Google Search-like feel to it.
Gemini has been getting some update love from Google recently and it is spreading to Google services to make your life easier for you. For instance, these days, you can create Forms in Google Forms using Google’s new chatbot AI or use it to search your Gmail mailbox in a much more advanced way.
