YouTube is giving Shorts a few updates in the next few weeks with a lot of creative tools to make and enhance Shorts videos. Starting with this update, YouTube is adding auto layout, at least for the Shorts made on Android, which, you guessed it, will help make your longer videos automatically compatible with the Shorts format. YouTube released officially notes to this feature
Real-time Interactive Broadcasting and Virtual Organization Development
Now, YouTube is experimenting with the mobile-first vertical live streaming right within the Shorts feed. This addition is intended to enable the creators to engage the live audiences better and promote interactions among the communities in real time. Even with Super Chat and channel memberships included, creators are simultaneously able to monetize live streams while better connecting with viewers.
New Tools for People With Simple Video Creation Skills
Soon creators will be able to use new features available in the YouTube Studio that make transition from the regular videos to Shorts easier. These features include; edit layout, zoom tool, crop tool, and split-screen making it possible for one to re-purpose long-form content into short-form, engaging videos. This initiative shows that YouTube is flexible, and emphasizes easy product usage from the audience/users.
Expanding Advertising Opportunities
YouTube is also improving its advertising functions, which relate to Shorts. The platform is enlisting Shorts into the Video reach campaigns, which leverages Google’s AI to get the ad placement right.
New TikTok-Like Features
Thus, to compete with the platforms that grew increasingly popular during the pandemic, YouTube has added features like the split-screen option and question stickers. These features are to increase creative independence and participate in stimulating user-generated content and products.
Apart from that, now YouTube is testing the option to display live stream teasers in the Shorts feed; this is another step towards increasing the focus on live streams, as well as utilizing the audience base of the platform.
